Volkswagen Beetle runs on poo

A recycling company has modified a Volkswagen Beetle to run on human waste. Called the Bio-Bug, it's powered by methane gas generated during sewage treatment.
The remarkable car drives and performs exactly the same as the standard Beetle, except it can achieve a year's average mileage - 10,000 miles - from the toilet waste of 70 homes.
Created by GENeco in Bristol, the Bio-Bug does not use any new technology - in fact, China and India have been using compressed natural gas (CNG) to power vehicles for years.
UK companies are already using CNG for buses and commercial fleet vehicles, but it has yet to take off in passenger cars.

GENeco has been producing biogas from sewage, which can be used in CNG vehicles, to power its own site and provide the National Grid for some time. The process of converting sewage into gas is called anaerobic digestion.
The company estimates that if all the biogas generated at its Avonmouth plant was used in cars, around 19,000 tonnes of CO2 would be spared from going into the atmosphere.

In Sweden, over 11,000 vehicles already run on CNG extracted from sewage works.
Lord Rupert Redesdale, chairman of the Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Assoiciation, said: “Biomethane cars could be just as important as electric cars, and the water regulator Ofwat should promote the generation of as much biogas as possible through sewage works in the fight against climate change.”
GENeco will look to convert its fleet of vehicles to run on biogas if the Bio-Bug trial proves successful.

International Work!

I did a shamanic journey for someone in Lithuania this morning, (I am in London at the moment) and then have an international call booked for 8.30pm.
Technology makes distances seem smaller and smaller
In a few minutes I will be on Skype with buddies from Scotland and the USA
How does it get any better than this
